6/25/08 Barber Named VaSID First Team All-State In Baseball University of Richmond rookie designated hitter Billy Barber has been named to the 2008 VaSID All-State First Team, which was announced this week. The Fredericksburg, Va. native, who led the Spiders with 16 homers and 45 RBI, becomes the second Spider in as many seasons to earn the honor.
6/19/08 Spider Baseball A Hit At The Miracle League Student-athletes from the University of Richmond baseball team recently spent time at The Miracle League, teaching the game to special needs children. The Miracle League aims to provide special needs children with a chance to play baseball and promotes the construction of new facilities that meet the needs of these children so they can participate in team sports and enjoy our national pastime - baseball. 6/8/08 Richmond's Alex Hale Drafted By Boston Red Sox University of Richmond senior pitcher Alex Hale was drafted Friday, taken by the reigning World Series Champion Boston Red Sox in the 30th-round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. Hale was the 922nd pick overall by Boston and represented the 16th Spider drafted in the last seven years.
